STOP COVID!!! Experimental performance
In Novembrer the students of CFGM of administrative management of INS La Guineueta attended the theatre play STOP COVID!!! It was an experimental performance to release this so necessary project. STOP COVID!!! is a theatrical activity which aimes at raising awareness of the young audience about the coronavirus and covid-19, putting emphasis on prevention measures and the impact the situation provoked by pandemic has had on their mental health and emotional well-being.
The activity consists of two parts that complement each other.
In the first part the theatre play is performed introducing the problems related to Coronavirus, evoking questions among the audience and inviting to reflect upon them.
In the second part a theatrical debate is open and the teenagers are invited to participate actively in it.
The healthcare contents of the play were elaborated in a process of research and documentation with the support of the Public Health Agency of Catalonia.
Contents
The play gives in an amusing way basic and helpfull information about coronavirus, possible ways of contagion, including parties, and prevention measures.
During the performance we make a journey from the lockdown to the consequences provoked by the pandemic: healthcare, psycological, economical, social, ecological and in education.
We observe the great labor of the intensive care doctors in the ICU and the fight for life of every infected person, the fight between life and death.
The play invites teenagers to take consciousness of the dimension of the pandemic and apply prevention measures and healthcare recommendations in their day-to-day life.
Artistic creation
In the process of the artistic creation Teatracció is inspired by the theatrical dimension embraced by Jacques Lecoq pedagogy (France).
Theatre play STOP COVID!!! wings between the comedy and the drama provoked by the pandemic; its aspect is amusing and rigorous regarding the healthcare contents treated.
At the play the coronavirus characters appear as punk stars doing world tour. They appear several times during the play and contribute provocative spirit. We also see the programme of Doctor Simona and her assistant Pep who provide healthcare information through the comic play. We follow the story of one family, its lockdown experience and the loss of one member of their family because of coronavirus. We see in detail the consequences povoked by the pandemic through the stories of different characters.
The play finishes with a battle between the doctor and the COVID character, where the importance of vaccination is emphasized.
STOP COVID!!! invites us to take consiousness of the importance of the situation we are living and do all the possible at the individual level to collaborate in this combat against the invisible enemy.
